Foundation Apprenticeship Celebration Event – A Day to Remember

Learners, tutors, and assessors came together for a fantastic celebration event, marking another successful year of the Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) SSCYP programme. The afternoon was filled with positivity, pride, and well-deserved recognition for everyone involved.

It was a great turnout, with FA pupils from across schools attending alongside the dedicated tutors and assessors who supported them throughout their journey. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, allowing everyone to take a moment to reflect on their progress, share experiences, and enjoy each other’s company.

The event, which took place on Thursday 28th May, provided a perfect opportunity to celebrate the hard work, commitment, and participation demonstrated by learners over the past year. From overcoming challenges to developing new skills, each apprentice had something to be proud of.

Guests enjoyed a “chilled and fun” afternoon, complete with cake, conversation, and plenty of smiles. It was clear that strong relationships had been built throughout the programme—not just between learners, but also with the Aberlour tutors and assessors who have been there every step of the way.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ awards 🏆.  One pupil from each FA class was selected for their dedication and achievements. Congratulations go to this year’s award recipients: Chloe Mennie (Aberdeen Grammar School), Ella Grieve (St Machar Academy) and Sophie Rennie (Oldmachar Academy).

These awards celebrate individuals who have gone above and beyond, showing exceptional commitment, professionalism, and growth throughout their apprenticeship.

Events like this are an important reminder of the impact that the Foundation Apprenticeship programme has—not only in developing practical skills but also in building confidence, resilience, and future career pathways.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended and contributed to making the event such a success. From learners to staff, the day truly reflected the spirit of the FA programme: supportive, inspiring, and full of opportunity.

We look forward to building on this success and celebrating even more achievements in the future. 🎈
