Aberlour Futures Apprentice Shortlisted For Prestigious Award
December 18, 2023
We are thrilled to share that Jennie Emmanuel, one of our Foundation Apprentices, has received a nomination for Foundation Apprentice of the Year! This award, from Skills Development Scotland, recognises exceptional apprentices who demonstrate commitment, skills development and leadership potential.
Jennie completed her Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services Children and Young People at school with Aberlour Futures in Aberdeen. For her work placement, she spent time working with the team at Kaimhill Nursery. The staff at the nursery reported she performed like an experienced team member, always taking initiative and contributing creative ideas. Jennie’s positive impact prompted the nursery to invite her back as a volunteer after she completed her placement.
Jennie has demonstrated dedication to her studies through regular attendance, assignment completion, and additional hours spent volunteering at the nursery. She gained practical experience, built relationships, and received excellent feedback while expanding her knowledge in child development, communication, and safeguarding.
Jennie successfully secured a job at Bright Horizons Treehouse Nursery following the completion of her Foundation Apprenticeship. Now, she prepares to begin the Modern Apprenticeship programme and further develop her skills. Her ambition is a testament to the unlocking potential of apprenticeships.
We could not be more thrilled by her well-deserved nomination and look forward to the awards ceremony in March 2024!
