Aberlour Futures Delivers Interactive Workshops for Little Clouds Nursery

October 17, 2024

Little Clouds Nursery in Aberdeen welcomed back Aberlour Futures for another engaging training day. Tailored to their needs, the workshops covered 3 key areas: Block Play, Story Lines, and Enabling Environments, providing the staff with valuable insights and practical skills.

Block Play: This workshop looked at how to enhance play areas to make them more stimulating and inviting spaces for all children to explore.  Helping to meet the children’s development needs.

One staff member commented, “This was interesting and gave us ways to update our construction corner for our age and stage of children. It gave me lots of ideas!

Story Lines: This session discussed the importance of using diverse resources and materials to encourage children’s creativity and exploration. The workshop also emphasised the significance of inclusion for children with additional support needs or communication difficulties.

The staff found this useful saying it was good to see “how adaptable storylines can be, for numbers, colours and stories.”

Enabling Environments:  In this we explored how to provide a nurturing environment for young children and the impact strong professional relationships have on their development.  Participants learned strategies for adapting indoor and outdoor spaces to support children’s learning and exploration.  One participant said “It gave me a good reminder of seeing the world from a child’s perspective.”

Little Clouds staff were enthusiastic throughout the training day and provided positive feedback. Comments included:

“I’m excited to put what I’ve learnt to use”;  “Very detailed and informative training”;  “I thought it was great team buildings “
