Exploring Interactive Workshops with Little Clouds Nursery

We are dedicated to enhancing early childhood development through interactive workshops that empower staff teams to provide exceptional care for children. We regularly work with childcare providers in Aberdeen to deliver specially tailored workshops to their staff. We loved working with Little Clouds Nursery in Altens for our most recent collaboration. We were thrilled to offer training to their staff that met the unique needs of their nursery.

The Aberlour Futures Team ran three workshops for the Little Clouds nursery staff. These one-hour taster sessions provided a glimpse into our broader, more comprehensive courses, allowing participants to explore new perspectives and approaches in their roles:

1. Our Creative Storytelling workshop encouraged staff to delve into the world of storytelling and role-play. We explored various techniques for creating and performing stories, emphasising the importance of engaging children in imaginative narratives.
2. The Literacy & Numeracy Outdoors workshop highlighted the educational potential of the natural environment. We introduced simple ideas to inspire children to explore numeracy while playing outdoors, fostering a deeper connection between nature and essential life skills.
3. Our Mind Maps and Talking Tubs workshop equipped staff with tools to promote children’s involvement, inclusion, and communication.

Staff at Little Clouds Nursery told us they enjoyed learning new and exciting ideas to improve their practice.

Speaking about the training, one staff member said, “It was an amazing course which definitely provided lots of ideas to adopt in my everyday practice. Fiona was really enthusiastic, knowledgeable and took time to answer questions the team had. It allowed me and my colleagues to reflect on how we tell stories and how to make this more exciting and inviting for the children.”

Another team member commented, “I learned more ways to create fun opportunities for the children and how I can get involved too.”
