Course Description
In this session, we look at what is ‘Child Development’. We break down and explore the key principles of a child’s development essential for them to thrive in their environment and look at the factors that may impact on their health, wellbeing, and development.
Looking at the sequences of each area of child development and explore practical ways to help support children’s progress in holistic way.
In this session we ask that you have an item to hand such as a wooden spoon, tin, cushion, towel, hairbrush, used cardboard tube from kitchen roll, (anything really), for discussion. We will discuss how these items can be used to help support children development.

For staff working in Early Years, and or with school age children as well parents/carers looking for information and guidance on how children develop.
Learning Outcomes:
- An understanding of the principles of child development and ways to support individual children to thrive.
- An understanding of sequential milestones, a holistic approach and areas for development and progression.
- An understanding of the varying perspectives of how children grow and develop through different stages.
- To understand the importance of having knowledge and gaining confidence in supporting children in their learning journey.
